Letter: A funny way to welcome people

Thursday 18th March 2010, 7:00AM GMT.

theatreLetter: Has anyone else noticed the increase in car park charges on Frankwell car park in the evenings?

Previously when visiting the theatre it was only necessary to pay £1 for parking. However, on Sunday night many were astounded that machines refused to issue a ticket for less than £2.

If Shropshire Council really wishes Shrewsbury to have a vibrant night life it’s not doing itself any favours by implementing such a penny pinching (or perhaps, more aptly, pound pinching) strategy.

Come on, this sort of attitude is not very welcoming.

Perhaps “Name and address supplied” would like Shropshire Council to provide a door-to-door limo service for him/her?

Mean. Petty. Pathetic. Small-minded. Get a life!

@H. St. John Peasbody, Why should we as a public have to pay to park?

Wev’e already payed council tax for the car park to be built in the first place.

I’m with the letter writer on this. An average theatre performance lasts no longer that three and a half hours. £2 for that small amouint of time is well out of order. Motorists hit yet again. Think again Shropshire Council!

If you took time to study the Tariff card you would clearly see that parking on Sundays is £2.00 all day – 8am – 8pm. for that u can visit the town and shop, eat prior to going to your show. Stop trying to find fault with the new Authority, at least give it a chance!

Taxing the motorist is just an easy way of subsidising incompetence. If its good enough for Gordon its good enough for Shropshire.

@H. St. John Peasbody – What a total irrelvant prickly and absolute waste of time comment.

I just do not bother to visit any town where I am ripped off by parking charges accompanied by threat of greater penalities should you stay over time.

Very constructive criticism from Mr. Peasbody and Nunu – must see if I can pick up similar responses next time I visit a school yard.

Don’t agree with you ‘name and address supplied’ but don’t think you should be verbally abused for your voicing your opinion either.

Suellan love your comment you are so right pathetic behaviour (as per usual, read through other letters!) The letter makes for an excellent debate but sad people with obviously a far from enriched life ruin it AGAIN.
