Region’s dogs collar top awards at Crufts
Tuesday 16th March 2010, 8:16AM GMT.

Barney Turner, 86, left, with her daughter Becky Henley from Shifnal, and her winning puppy Tommy, an Italian Greyhound
Oswestry woman Wendy Tobijanski and her four-year-old Cesky Terrier Ceska also scored best of breed.
She said: “I didn’t expect to win, but then you can’t ever expect to win at Crufts because it’s so competitive. I’m absolutely delighted.”
And a Shifnal mother and daughter made it a show to remember after shining in the toy dog category.
Barney Turner, 85, and Becky Henley, 48, joined forces to guide Tommy, an Italian Greyhound, to the best puppy award.
Daughter Becky said: “Tommy is a proper live wire – let’s call him exuberant. But he is a lovely dog.
“Crufts is the show that everyone wants to win and you get the buzz when you are out in the ring.
“We have been breeding these dogs in our family for 40 years and I judged here three years ago so I really love it here. It’s a real buzz to win.”
A German short-haired pointer owned by Adam Rose of Little Dawley, Telford, also won best of breed at the show.
