Public to have say on relief road bid
Tuesday 16th March 2010, 10:58AM GMT.

Full details of an extensive public consultation into controversial plans to build a £102 million North West Relief Road around Shrewsbury have today been revealed.
The consultation, by Shropshire Council, will take place from April 13 to May 14 this year about plans to build the road to ease traffic in the town centre and in rural communities west of the town.
The research period will aim to give residents a chance to view the details of the project and identify its potential benefits and possible negative impacts, according to transport bosses.
Views will be gathered in a number of different ways on the road, which could be built in 2016 after the Department for Transport agreed to foot most of the bill. The research will include a survey being sent to the council’s citizen’s panel. The panel consists of around 1,500 people.
People will be encouraged to e-mail on nwrr.consultation@shropshire.gov.uk or call the council with their comments to a dedicated phone number 0345 678 9006. Residents can also complete an online survey on the council’s website.
A number of staffed exhibitions will take place in and around Shrewsbury and a special Development Services Scrutiny Committee will also be held in July.
Consultation feedback will be considered by the council in August before deciding whether to submit a Major Scheme Business Case for the road to the Department for Transport.

I think that we have all had enough say on this road by now, so lets just go ahead and build it, as we know it will be THREE TIMES the price quoted by the time it is finished just like all other managed quotations.
Once the contract has been won, you watch this escalating cost. ( What Quantum ?)
So, stop hanging around and wasting more money, when we all know the result of public opinion means nothing today.
