Keeping up the pressure

Shrewsbury-based Hometyre Group was set up in 2008, with bosses hoping to create five trading franchised outlets in their first year.
Now the network has 15 franchisees in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales and has developed a new operation in Europe.
Andy Lawrence, creator of the Hometyre brand, has been trading throughout the Shropshire area for eight years. Hometyre is a retail mobile tyre dealer network providing tyres and tyre-related services on site at customers’ homes or places of work.
Two years ago Andrew Scholes, operations director, joined Andy in creating the franchise company, Hometyre Group.
And following a successful launch period at the British Franchise Association’s major franchise shows in London and Birmingham, they have already taken on 15 new franchisees throughout the UK.
Mr Lawrence said: “Strength of brand, quality of service vehicles and equipment and their attention to customer service has really set the company aside from what is normally expected during the delivery of this type of product.
“The fact that Hometyre visits the customer at their convenience and with no call-out charge, contributes to its success.
The first area was West Sussex which launched in March 2009 with husband-and-wife team, Mark and Lyne Watson.
Twelve months on and Hometyre is launching its sister operation Les Pneus Chez Vous with Matthew Kirk, an Englishman based in Annecy, France, launching the business this month.
Matthew said: “I am delighted to be taking this successful product into Europe. We are of course hoping that this is the first of many vans to be seen on the French roads, and then further into Europe.”
Mr Lawrence added: “We are really pleased with the rapid growth of the Hometyre brand across the UK and now into Europe – more so considering that this has taken place throughout a period when trading confidence has been at its lowest.
“We’ve developed a product which delivers on all fronts to our customers and one which is being very well received by all.”c
