Scott Godbold, Annie Davies and Sam Devine-Turner are recovering
A charity fund which was set up to help the five people most seriously injured in the Shrewsbury explosion has raised more than £5,000.
The Bridge Street fund was set up to help Scott Godbold, Sam Devine-Turner, Annie Davies, Sarah Pearse and Kiley McDonnell who were all hurt in the explosion at the corner of Bridge Street and Smithfield Road on January 3.
Sam, Scott and Sarah, who lived in the flat destroyed in the blast, lost all their belongings as a result.
The fund closed on Valentine’s Day with organisers giving people about four weeks to pay in any outstanding money before the total could be announced.
The final amount raised was £5,584 which was split five ways. The cheques have now been given to the victims or their families.
As well as donations paid directly into the fund, money was raised through live music nights, sponsored events, collection buckets and a table top sale.
Councillor Jon Tandy, who organised the fund, said he wanted to thank everyone who had helped raise the cash.
He said: “The fund is now closed I would like to thank everyone who donated money.
“The fund final amount was £5,584 which means that the five injured got £1,116.80 each.
“This I hope will pay for them to get back just some of the things they lost due to the blast.”
