Police today appealed for witnesses to the accident, which happened on the A483 Oswestry bypass, at the Maesbury Road junction, at 12.30pm yesterday.

Police said a white Mercedes Sprinter panel van and a blue Suzuki motorcycle collided. The road was closed for nearly four hours.

Claire Thomas, of the West Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust, said: “A woman and man, believed to be in their 40s, had come off the motorcycle in the crash.

“The man suffered a broken arm, suspected pelvic injuries and a minor head injury.”

He was airlifted, in a stable condition, to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. His wife suffered a minor head and left shoulder injury. Crews treated her at the scene and took her to the same hospital by ambulance.

The van driver, a man, was not injured but left shaken by the incident. No- one else was injured in the crash and the injuries to the couple are not believed to be life-threatening.

Constable Sarah Louise McGrath, who is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision, appealed for anyone who might have seen what happened to contact police on 0300 333 3000.
