Date is set for summer show fun
Saturday 13th March 2010, 11:30AM GMT.
A date has been set for this year’s Newport Show – and organisers say it has all the makings of being a record-breaker.
It will be staged on July 10 and tickets are selling well for the show after a sunny start to March triggered an influx of inquiries from families across Shropshire and neighbouring counties.
Organisers said demand for trade space is also doing well, with many countrywide and local exhibitors returning after a successful visit to Newport for its 100th anniversary show at Chetwynd Deer Park last year.
Scott Dobson, show president, said: “Every year the organising committee sets itself a challenge – to make the next show better than the last and draw more people into Newport – and in this economic climate that is more important than ever.
“More than 12,000 people poured into the area for last year’s event, giving a boost to local shops and hotels.
“We are planning an entertainment’s programme which we hope will draw even more for the 101st show.”
Main ring attractions will include the Bolddog Lings Freestyle Team with a dare-devil display of airborne motorcycle acrobatics leaping 35ft in the sky.
The Knights of the Damned – a jousting stunt team – will also be performing.
