County man’s Google view in the spotlight

Saturday 13th March 2010, 11:30AM GMT.

A Shropshire man has made national news after using Google’s Street View service to map out his life story in pictures.

Marc Loterijman, 23, who grew up in High Ercall, Telford, took the unusual step of posting a self-styled “Street View life story” using pictures from Google.

Using his Twitter feed, he started posting pictures of his job in Ketley and then at Aberystwyth University.

He said: “I just thought it would be an interesting idea to post a bit about myself using street views. I didn’t post a picture of my parent’s house because of privacy so I started with my first jobs at McDonald’s in Ketley.

“When I was at university I posted up the pictures of the three places I lived at while I was staying there.”

But the former Shrewsbury Sixth Form College student said he had no idea he was going to appear in a national newspaper after his story was picked up in the Daily Telegraph earlier this week.

He added: “I was contacted by them over e-mail and asked if I would answer a few questions. I heard nothing back from them – and the next thing I knew I received a message on Facebook to say that there’s an article in the Daily Telegraph on me.

“It came as a bit of a surprise.”

Mr Loterijman now works for Southern railways, based in Croydon, South London and has no immediate plans to return to Telford.

His delighted mother Stella Loterijman, of High Ercall, said: “It’s fantastic, he’s now my famous son.”
