Fit again Kevin is booster for Bucks

Midfielder Kevin O’Connor has been given the green light to join AFC Telford United’s play-off charge at Hyde tomorrow.
The former Wolves man was a major doubt with tight hamstrings after lasting just 45 minutes of last Saturday’s goalless draw with Solihull.
But manager Rob Smith today confirmed O’Connor would be ready to start tomorrow after coming through training unscathed last night.
Striker Steve Thompson is also being considered for a place in the travelling party, but his involvement would be limited to a place on the bench, while young Bucks forward David Howarth could also be included after recently gaining match-time with Market Drayton Town.
Smith believes tomorrow’s clash kicks off a key week for Telford, who also host Eastwood and Stalybridge over the coming seven days.
And the Bucks boss is keen to cash in on the lifeline given by Farsley Celtic’s demise which is likely to see their results expunged and Telford move up to sixth in the subsequent readjustments.
“Nobody likes to see what has happened to Farsley but the effect it will probably have on the table should give the lads a massive boost,” added Smith.
“It’s a tough game tomorrow because Hyde are beating teams regularly at home.
“But this is a really big week and we know if we can get three wins, we would be bang in there.”
Meanwhile, Smith doesn’t expect any new faces in time for tomorrow’s clash after a week of frustration for the Bucks chief and his assistant Larry Chambers.
“We must have been working on four or five different deals during the week and every one of them has fallen through because other clubs are paying signing on fees,” he added.
“We will be bringing players in before the transfer deadline (later this month) but they will be the right players at the right price.”
