Police analyse river search results

Wednesday 10th March 2010, 5:00PM GMT.

Hayden Reynolds-EvansPolice were today analysing the results of a search of the River Severn in Shrewsbury using a sonar boat as the hunt for missing teenager Hayden Reynolds-Evans continued.

The 18-year-old was last seen in the town more than five weeks ago and a team went out yesterday to search the river.

Maria Hawkaluk, spokeswoman for West Mercia Police, today said the results of the operation were now being analysed.

Meanwhile, officers have also renewed appeals for a cyclist to come forward after CCTV from the Chester Street area showed a man, believed to be Hayden, walking past The Gateway Arts and Education centre towards Coton Hill shortly after 10pm on February 1.

A few seconds later, a cyclist is seen riding past the camera on the same pavement but going in the opposite direction towards town.

Detective Inspector Ernie Locke said a group of young males was in the Coton Hill area that evening and may have seen Hayden, of Castle Foregate, Shrewsbury. He said: “I am urging people to think back to that night and remember anything they might have seen, however insignificant. Someone might have that small piece of information to help us find Hayden.”

Mr Locke urged any witnesses to get in touch by calling 0300 333 3000.

Hayden’s family has also issued a desperate plea for anybody who has any information to get in touch with police, and say his disappearance is “totally out of character”.
