Attingham returned to its Regency glory

Historic textile advisor Annabel Westman carried out the curtain research based on surviving fragments of the original pink silk tabouret, Van Dyke lace, stamped black velvet ribbon and curtain poles.

The Van Dyke lace, a zig-zag design named after the pointed lace collars in Van Dyke’s portraits, has been woven by one of the last surviving looms in the country capable of producing these sorts of trimmings.

The cloak pins, or tie-backs, are exact replicas of Attingham originals, Miss Kay said.
