Sonar is used in Hayden search

Tuesday 9th March 2010, 3:26PM GMT.

Hayden Reynolds-EvansA sonar boat today took to the River Severn as the hunt for missing Shrewsbury teenager Hayden Reynolds-Evans continued.

The 18-year-old was last seen in the town more than five weeks ago and a team went out today to search the river.

Concern is growing for the safety of the teenager who has not been seen since leaving a town centre pub on February 1.

West Mercia Police today confirmed a sonar boat was searching the river as part of the search for Hayden.

John Roberts, chairman and head bailiff for Shropshire Anglers Federation, was today helping with the search by assisting the Police Sonic River Mapping Unit from London with his local knowledge of the river.

He said: “We have given them depth levels for the river and temperatures and from that they are going to use that to map the bottom of the river.”

Hayden’s family has issued a desperate plea for anybody who has any information to get in touch with police, and say his disappearance is “totally out of character”.

They have distributed posters across the county and further afield in the hope somebody may come forward with information to help find Hayden, who has not been seen since leaving The Albion Vaults pub in Castle Foregate.

Anyone with information about Hayden is asked to contact police on 0300 333 3000.
