Here is what we assume to be the “delivery van” outside the Oswestry Co-op many years ago in an undated postcard view but, based on the fashions of the lady on the extreme right who is looking on, may be the early 1920s. It’s a long shot but does anyone know who these people are? The building on the right seems to be a hotel, as that word is just about readable on the sign.

Oswestry Co-op. That looks like the Traffic lights in Oswestry with what is now the Coach and Dogs and a fabric store in the background. The Co-op van is parked in Morda Road. Upper Brook Street would be to the left and Lower Brook Street to the right.

I believe the bridge at Sutton road junction was built by Italian prisoner’s of war, and the support leg on the right of the photo was an inch short of touching the bridge, so it was in fact doing nothing.

The photo of the Potts line bridge was taken from the bridge at the end of Montague Place.The Hereford/South Wales line ran under them.
