Bob Lane, one of the Severn Valley Railway drivers, helps to get the first train of the weekend underway from Bridgnorth.

It’s full steam ahead at a top Shropshire tourist attraction as railway enthusiasts from all over the country celebrate its 40th anniversary at the Severn Valley Railway’s Spring Reunion Gala.

It got under way yesterday morning when The Great Marquess steam loco pulled out of Bridgnorth station.

It was the first of 120 trips on the line which are planned for this weekend, featuring favourite steam engines from the 1960s and 1970s alongside regular members of the railway’s fleet.
