Shropshire Council has asked local photojournalist Richard Bishop to highlight the progress of the current work which is taking place around the town’s Welsh Bridge.

The Connect2 project will complete the cycle route around the River Severn loop in the town by filling in the gap in the network along Smithfield Road and create links from the town centre into the north of Shrewsbury.

Mr Bishop has been photographing the work and getting feedback about the scheme for his blog.

He said: “I’m fortunate to get involved with some interesting projects and this one is no exception.

“It’s the first time I’ve produced a blog for anyone else.

“There is a lot of interest in the work around the Welsh Bridge and people have been very helpful with their opinions.

“There’s been a positive reaction so far but I’m always interested in the wider viewpoint and looking forward to hearing some over the next few weeks.”

Emma Bullard, promotions manager for Cycle Shrewsbury, said: “We think we are the first cycling town to use a blog like this, and we hope people will join Cycle Shrewsbury and send us their comments on the blog.”
