Caravan sales centre expansion brings jobs

At least 18 jobs are set to be created as part of a multi-million pound expansion of a Shrewsbury company.

Work on the expansion of Salop Leisure’s headquarters at Emstrey is scheduled to begin this spring.

The contract for the work has been awarded to C21 Construction Ltd of Welshpool, which built the company’s £5 million headquarters alongside the Shrewsbury bypass at Emstrey traffic island when the company moved from Meole Brace four years ago.

The expansion, which will increase the size of the sales centre from 3,525 to 5,210 square metres, will create at least 18 jobs.

The company currently employs 140 staff.

The plans, designed by Harry Wilson, of Shrewsbury-based WDW chartered architects, include the creation of an access road 100 metres further away from the Emstrey roundabout to improve traffic flow and road safety.

The expansion will also allow the company to create a natural landscaped display area for caravans and to expand its showrooms, service facilities, workshops, offices and customer parking space.

Salop Leisure purchased 45 acres of land adjoining its headquarters 18 months ago, with a view to future expansion to meet growing demand from customers, who are investing in holidays in the UK.

Mark Bebb, managing director, said he was delighted with their progress.
