Drayton fans get Line vow
Friday 26th February 2010, 1:10PM GMT.
Simon Line has vowed Market Drayton Town’s season will not “fizzle out” as he prepares for his Greenfields homecoming tomorrow.
Line takes charge of the first home game of his second spell in charge after overseeing away defeats at Grantham and Belper.
Drayton are currently 12th in UniBond League division one south, with no threat of relegation and little chance of reaching the play-offs – but Line is determined to end the season on a high note.
And a home game with struggling Spalding offers Drayton, who have won just one of their last 15 games, the chance to register a much-needed success.
“We want to pick up as many points as we can and finish as high as possible between now and the end of the season,” said Line.
“We also have the Shropshire Challenge Cup to go for so it won’t fizzle out.
“The second half performance at Grantham was good, as it was for 70 minutes at Belper.
“If we can have the same work ethic we will give ourselves an excellent chance tomorrow.
“But Spalding will come fighting for their lives and it’s never easy against teams at the bottom end of the table at this stage of the season.”
Jamie Haynes has two more matches of a suspension to run, but Paul Bowyer and Stuart Ellis both return to the squad.
