The Don on Bailey Head and Albion Hill, Oswestry
Plans have been lodged for the next stage of the redevelopment of a historic Oswestry town centre building.
Award-winning developer Kitwe Developments is behind the revamp of the The Don building on Bailey Head which bosses say will kick-start the regeneration of the town centre.
The Don, a listed building, has played an important part in the social life and history of Oswestry.
It forms part of a group of listed buildings in the town centre built about 1849 and it was previously the Temperance Hotel and Young Men’s Reading Room.
Kitwe Developments has already revamped the ground floor and first floor of the building and is now seeking planning approval to turn the second floor into office accommodation.
Ashling Whelan, from Kitwe Developments, said: “The Bailey Head is one of the most historically important locations in Oswestry and the refurbishment of this building will hopefully be the start of regenerating the town centre together with the planned facelift to the market hall, which has been given much coverage in the press recently.
“Months of refurbishment work has recently finished and the fantastic results can be seen by all in its prominent position on the Bailey Head.”
