Major work to repair a building which was badly damaged by the Shrewsbury explosion is set to start soon.

Morris and Company’s head office at Welsh Bridge suffered extensive internal and external damage during the explosion on January 3.

The building was secured with scaffolding following the explosion and work will begin on the site in early spring.

Robin Morris, chairman of Morris and Company, said: “The Morris Head Office building on Welsh Bridge sustained major damage as a result of the explosion in January which will require substantial works both internally and externally.

“We are meeting with the insurance loss adjusters to agree the cost of repairs and hope to make a start on this work in spring.”

Structural engineers were called following the blast and staff were re-located to other offices, before being allowed back in recently.
