Wolves boss Mick McCarthy was left to bemoan poor defending as he saw his side lose out 2-0 to Barclays Premier leaders Chelsea at Molineux.

His side were striving for an equaliser when Didier Drogba scored his and his side’s second goal.

The defeat leaves Wolves just above the bottom three after a weekend in which all the bottom seven lost.

McCarthy said: “I thought we should have got something out of the game. I was really annoyed afterwards.

“Someone said ‘Well done’, but I said that wasn’t the case, because we got beat when we shouldn’t have got beat.

“We had the game by the scruff of the neck by the second half when Cech made two great saves.

“But then we gave away a really bad goal, and we might as well have packed in then, because it demoralised us.”
