Wolves boss Mick McCarthy took the unusual step of naming an unchanged side in advance of tomorrow’s home Barclays Premier League clash with leaders Chelsea.

McCarthy is to keep faith with the players who earned Wolves a 1-0 win against Tottenham at Molineux to lift them out of the Premier League bottom three.

But he will have to make an alteration amongst the substitutes as on-loan Blues utility man Michael Mancienne is ineligible to face his parent club.

Holding midfielder Segundo Castillo and striker Stefan Maierhofer will come into the equation.

It cames as McCarthy admitted he will not be able to repeat his controversial team selection against Manchester United which resulted in the club being given a suspended fine.

McCarthy made 10 changes for the visit to Old Trafford in mid December as Wolves were beaten 3-0 by Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.

The tactic repeated dividends as Wolves triumphed against Burnley at Molineux 2-0 four days later as McCarthy reverted back to nine of the team which won at White Hart Lane the previous Saturday.

But the move has been frowned upon by the Premier League, who have handed Wolves a suspended £25,000 fine.

l Crystal Palace starlet Nathaniel Clyne has revealed he turned down a deadline-day move to Wolves because he did not want to sit on the bench at the Premier League club.

Palace’s administrators accepted a bid for the 18-year-old right-back but Clyne opted to continue playing first-team football in south London.

He said: “I decided to stay at Crystal Palace. No-one else, it was just me.

“I am old enough now to make my own decisions and my family just told me to do what I wanted to do.”
