Shane’s two-game goal
Wednesday 17th February 2010, 12:33PM GMT.
Consistent defender Shane Cansdell-Sherriff is hoping to make himself available for both parts of Shrewsbury Town’s promotion double-header – as he prepares to become a father for the third time.
The latest addition to the Australian’s family is due on Monday – when Town are due to be travelling to Rotherham and just 72 hours after the clash with Bury.
And Cansdell-Sherriff has vowed to do everything within his power to make himself available for both games.
“The baby is due the day of the Rotherham game and we are not going to allow it to go over that date,” said the 27-year-old, who has slotted in at centre-half to good effect in recent weeks.
“Hopefully it will happen in the next couple of days. I don’t want to miss a game but family is important to me so I will need to do what is best for my family at the time.
“If the unlucky circumstances are that it is due on that moment when I’m due to be playing, unfortunately I may have to miss a game.
“But I will do my best to be available for Shrewsbury, whether it’s being at the birth and then rushing over to the game.
“I will do what I have to do to play as well.”
Meanwhile, manager Paul Simpson is celebrating a clean bill of health as defender Dean Holden prepares to make his comeback from a hamstring injury tonight.
“I think it’s the first time in my two years at the club that everyone has been fit which is a great position to be in,” said the Town boss.
Holden is set to start tonight’s reserve game at Burton after missing the last three weeks with a hamstring injury.
Winger Jake Simpson is also back after a two month absence with a knee problem, while Benjamin van den Broek will make his first appearance for Shrewsbury in what is a strong looking reserve team.
The Town line-up is: Chris Neal, Danny Taylor, Dean Holden, Connor Goldson, Harry Hooman, Paul Murray, Will Richards, Jake Simpson, Benjamin van den Broek, Kris Bright, Jake Robinson.
