Road crash driver freed

Tuesday 16th February 2010, 10:33AM GMT.

A driver had to be cut from the wreckage of a private hire car following a crash with a lorry in Telford.

The driver was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford following the smash at about 2.15pm yesterday at St Quentin Gate, Hollinswood. His injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

The accident left the road closed for about an hour while emergency services worked at the scene.

Watch manager John Pritchard, of Tweedale fire station, said firefighers removed the roof of the car as a precaution to free the driver as he was complaining of back pain.
