The car in Mr Evans's house
A motorist escaped serious injury after his car left a Mid Wales road and ploughed into a conservatory. The crash near Llanfyllin on Saturday night left the householder and his family shocked but unhurt.
The crash saw the car leave the road on a bend and go over a crash barrier and hedge before landing in the conservatory.
Emyr Evans, who lives on the A490 at Pentre with his wife and three children, said he was in bed watching TV at about 10.30pm when he heard four huge bangs and rushed out to find a Vauxhall Corsa on its roof and his conservatory smashed.
The Welsh Ambulance Service, said the driver, thought to be a 48-year-old man, was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Mr Evans said it was the third such incident to have happened at his home in just 10 years.
He said it was fortunate that none of his family had been hurt and is now calling on highways chiefs to take urgent action to prevent any accidents in the future.
Mr Hughes said the damage caused ran into thousands of pounds.
“We have got a crash barrier there and it has just come straight over that, the hedge and the fence behind it and ended up upside down in my conservatory,” he said.
“It’s taken the roof out and moved a bit of one wall. Inside the house is all cracked as well, although it’s probably only plaster.
“There was glass everywhere, bits of fence everywhere, it was a right mess.”
Mr Evans said that his home is on a dangerous bend and claimed it was the third car to have collided with his home.
