Town remain one of the form sides of the division in a week where they went Dutch in their bid to bring in fresh faces, writes Shrewsbury Town blogger James Pugh.

So how many of you had heard of Dutch attacking midfielder Benjamin Van Den Broek? I certainly hadn’t, but if he is as good as Simpson is making out then we could have some player on our hands.

We were crying out for an attack minded player and hopefully he will be one that can settle quickly and get accustomed to English football – unlike a certain Kris Bright.

I didn’t think I would ever see the day when Town would have a Dutchman, a Canadian, a New Zealander and an Australian in the same squad. Whatever next!

Town have also be linked with a move for Norwich striker Jamie Cureton. He maybe 34, but he has plenty of experience and has scored goals wherever he has played. He’s definitely worth a gamble alongside the youthful Hibbert and Robinson.
That just leaves a defender for Simpson to try and bring on loan, although some would argue the current crop are doing a decent enough job with some good young talent ready to come into the team if called upon.

The signing of exciting prospect Van Den Broek came in a great week for Town where they picked up two comfortable home wins against Barnet and local rivals Hereford.

The games proved that we don’t rely on just Hibbert for goals, and it was nice for Disley to net his first for the club. With a current striker shortage at the club, I think Disley’s more attacking role supporting the loan striker has worked very well so far.
Six wins out of eight games has put Town’s automatic promotion hopes right back on track and we are starting to see a gap develop between us and the teams chasing the play-off positions.
But what has Town’s recent run of good form come down to? The reasons for me are the return of Disley and Neal to fitness and the great form shown by Dunfield, Button, Skarz and Leslie. But what do fans think?
Next up for Town is a mouth-watering clash away at third place Bury on Friday where we could find ourselves up against the inform Ryan Lowe who would love to put one past his old club.
Town should hold no fears about playing at Gigg Lane – Bury have lost four times there in the league this season and the ground holds fond memories for Town fans in last season’s play-offs.
