Sunday best aim for Saints
Saturday 13th February 2010, 10:18AM GMT.
Having suffered only their second loss of the season, The New Saints will be out to prove their durability in tomorrow’s big home showdown with Bangor City.
The Oswestry men now find themselves four points off the pace following last weekend’s surprise 1-0 defeat at GAP Connah’s Quay, their first loss in 16 outings.
And with leaders Llanelli fancied to overcome struggling Porthmadog this weekend, they know they cannot afford any more slips if they hope to keep up the title pressure.
The Saints will take comfort from their impressive home form at Park Hall, where they have not lost in 22 outings, while Bangor will also be wary they last won at their opponents back in September 1998.
However, the Farrar Road men can go into the encounter in good spirits after recording their sixth win in seven outings with a fine 3-1 victory over Rhyl last week.
Striker Chris Sharp, a recent acquisition from Bangor, will not make his home bow against his former club following an agreement between the two clubs.
However, midfielder Chris Seargeant is likely to face his old pals after his summer switch from the Citizens.
There will be a familiar face in the Bangor ranks with the visitors set to include former Saints and Newtown front runner Nicky Ward who impressed last week in his team’s win against Rhyl.
