Views on planning blueprint needed
Thursday 11th February 2010, 8:50AM GMT.
The final version of a planning blueprint that will help shape the development of Shropshire over the next 15 to 20 years will be published for consultation next week.
Shropshire Council’s Core Strategy aims to set out a long-term vision for development and will be used to guide planning decisions.
It goes out for consultation from Monday until March 29.
Councillor Martin Taylor-Smith, cabinet member for strategic planning, said: “The strategy reflects the distinctively rural nature of Shropshire and the connection between the county town of Shrewsbury, the market towns, smaller settlements and the rural areas they serve.
“It is an approach that seeks to nurture, protect and develop the social and physical fabric of communities, supporting new economic potential within their environmental setting.”
The strategy and all other supporting material, including representations made as part of the final consultation, will be submitted to the Secretary of State in July.
An independent inspector will then be appointed to examine the the strategy during the autumn.
The final plan and guidance on completing a standard response form will be available on the council’s website from Monday at www.shropshire.gov.uk/planning.nsf
