Mammoth find was made with a digger

The Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre and Ludlow Library and Resource Centre are jointly holding a 'Mega Mammoth Day' on Saturday 11th October. It will be a family event for all ages and advance booking is advisable. Visitor Assistant Brenda Jackson at Secret Hills is pictured with the famous Condover Mammoth.

“They were trying to get to the bottom of the clay to see if there was any gravel underneath.”

Further excavations after the initial discovery uncovered further bones from one adult and three juvenile mammoths.
