Tributes to tragic McFall family

Mcfall familyThe stunned friends and business associates of the McFalls today paid tribute to the tragic Shropshire family.

It comes as forensic investigations into the deaths of Hugh, Sue and Frankie McFall at their Oswestry home were concluded by police.

The owners of Stans Superstore in St Martins, near Oswestry, today spoke of their shock at the events of last Friday, while school friends of 18-year-old Frankie held a minute’s silence in her honour.

The Faulks family, which owns the superstore, said they had holidayed with Hugh and Sue McFall just last year and had socialised with them for many years.

They also said that Mr McFall, 48, had not only been one of their suppliers, but had also been a close family friend.

Peter, Robert and Andrew Faulks, partners in the family business, said: “We have known his family well and socialised with them.

“Only last year we holidayed with Hugh and Sue in Cyprus.

“Hugh has been our supplier for bedding plants and flowers for many years. We are all shocked at what has happened and our thoughts are with his family and what they must be going through.”

Family members have asked to be left in peace to grieve.

The forensic investigations at both the family home in Hampton Road and at the business premises in Ellesmere Road in St Martins have now finished.

Inquests are to be opened at Shrewsbury Magistrates Court on Thursday by the coroner for Mid and North Shropshire is Mr John Ellery.

Mr McFall killed his wife and daughter on Friday before driving to his lock-up in St Martins and hanging himself.

Yesterday more than 1,000 young people from Oswestry’s Marches School and Technology College held a minute’s silence as a mark of respect.

Frankie had been the head girl at the Marches from 2007 to 2008 and pupils had called for the minute’s silence.
