Sentence in drugs case

Tuesday 9th February 2010, 11:07AM GMT.

A Telford man has given a 40-week suspended jail sentence for allowing a house he rented to be used to grow cannabis with a street value of more than £420,000.

Andrew Lowe, 38, of Burnell Road, Admaston, had previously admitted being concerned with the growing of the Class C drug and appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court today for sentencing.

Judge Robin Onions sentenced Lowe to 40 weeks in jail, suspended for two years, and ordered him to carry out 250 hours’ unpaid work and to pay £1,200 costs.

Mr Simon Rogers, for Lowe, said his client regretted his involvement.
