Hopes high at Ludlow

Tuesday 9th February 2010, 10:17AM GMT.

Ludlow racecourse officials are hoping it is fourth time lucky tomorrow.

The last three meetings at the Shropshire course have been abandoned due to the weather, and concerns linger over tomorrow’s National Hunt card with a precautionary inspection set for 8am.

“I’m a lot more hopeful this morning than I was yesterday because we didn’t have the frost which was forecast last night,” said clerk of the course Bob Davies.

“It now depends what we get tonight. Depending on which forecast you listen to, the minimum is going to be somewhere between 0 and minus 4.

“If it’s 0 or minus 1C, we would have no problems. If it goes to -4 or lower, we will probably have a problem. We will just have to wait and see.”
