Find my missing son – mother
Tuesday 9th February 2010, 11:20AM GMT.
The mother of a Shropshire teenager who vanished more than a week ago today issued a desperate plea – help me find my son.
Julie Davies said her whole family had been rocked by the disappearance of her son Hayden Reynolds-Evans, which she said was “totally out of character”.
The 18-year-old, of Castle Foregate, Shrewsbury, has not been seen since he left a town centre pub on February 1. And relatives are growing increasingly concerned for his safety. Today Ms Davies urged anybody with any information about the whereabouts of her son to contact the police.
She said: “We just don’t understand – he’s a home body and he’s never done anything like this. He can’t go a day without seeing his family. We’ve put posters up and gone looking for him every night. We’ve tried everything.”
She said her son was well known in the town through his work at the Bird in Hand pub in Coton Hill and at Curry’s. Ms Davies, of Claverley Road, Harlescott, said a lot of people also knew him through darts and dominoes leagues.
She said he had attended Harlescott Junior School and Belvidere School and had gone to the Walford College where he had obtained a diploma in horticulture.
She said: “He is a brilliant gardener, he loves work and he’s a grafter.”
His aunt Tanya Williams said: “He’s a cheeky chappie with the gift of the gab. He works hard and he’s good at what he does.”
The family said they were touched by all the support from nearly 3,000 people who have joined a Facebook group set up by Hayden’s brother Khyle, 17, to help find him.
They urged anyone with any information to call police on 0300 333 3000, in particular a cyclist who may hold vital information.
Police have appealed for a cyclist to come forward after CCTV from the Chester Street area showed a man believed to be Mr Reynolds-Evans walking past The Gateway Arts and Education centre towards Coton Hill shortly after 10pm on February 1. Seconds later, a cyclist is seen riding past the camera on the same pavement but going in the opposite direction towards town.
Mr Reynolds-Evans was last seen leaving The Albion Vaults pub in Castle Foregate, Shrewsbury, having got off a train at the railway station just after 10pm.
