Susan, Francesca and Hugh McFall on holiday in New York

Police today launched a murder investigation after the bodies of a mother and her teenage daughter were found at a Shropshire home and the body of a man was discovered in a nearby village.

The two women – named locally as 18-year-old Francesca “Frankie” McFall and her mother Susan McFall – were found at a bungalow in Hampton Road, Oswestry, just after 5am.

The man, believed to be Hugh McFall, husband to Susan and father to Frankie, was found dead at about 9.30am at Growing Places, a flower business he ran at St Martins Business Park, near Oswestry.

Police said as a result of the discovery of the man’s body they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the women’s deaths.

Detective Superintendent Sheila Thornes said the women’s deaths were being treated as murder.

Police spokesman Richard Ewels said: “Police can confirm that the man’s body was found at an industrial unit in St Martins, several miles from Oswestry.”

He added: “No formal identification has yet been made and police investigations are continuing.”

About 12 armed police officers arrived at the business park this morning and forensic experts were carrying out tests this afternoon.

Neighbour James Bond said police knocked on his door and broke the news to him and his wife that there were two bodies and that the police were looking for Mr McFall.

Mr Bond said they pointed them in the direction of the lock-up at St Martins where police later found a body.

He said: “We are absolutely stunned. They were such a close family, they had just come back from a holiday in New York where they had the time of their lives. There was nothing at all to suggest that this would happen, they were such a close family.”

Police and ambulance crews were alerted just after 5am and were at the scene in Hampton Road within minutes. The road, in one of Oswestry’s more affluent areas, was cordoned off.

Justin Smart, general manager of Stan’s Superstore in St Martins, said: “All the staff and management are very sad at this news.

“Hugh was someone who supplied us with flowers for many years.”

to hear this sad news is tragic but maybe we will never know the truth of why a father murdered his family this is another tragic case just like the case of mr christopher foster in maesbrook shropshire who last august killed his family because of great financial losses of his company ulva limited in telford shropshire is it money alone which drives people to such measures you can still have a life without alot of money the true information will soon be revealed i believe three lives which cannot be replaced . very sad
