Larry calls for show of steel

Friday 5th February 2010, 11:22AM GMT.

Larry ChambersAssistant manager Larry Chambers is challenging AFC Telford United’s players to rise to the challenge at in-form Droylsden by ending their bleak run of away form.

The Bucks have lost their last four away matches in the Blue Square North, and the trip to the Butchers Arms Ground tomorrow looks another daunting task on paper.

But Chambers wants Telford to show more mental strength away from the New Bucks Head and prove they can take points off the top teams in the league.

“Our away record has not been great this season and it’s about time we started taking something from the teams above us,” he said.

“We need to be strong and we need to defend better than we did on Tuesday (in the 5-1 win over Vauxhall Motors).

“We’ll be prepared and we know what Droylsden are all about. They always play an attacking style and they don’t compromise that for anybody.

“They line up with a 4-3-3 and they always score goals. They’re in good form at the moment as well.”

Telford have a full strength squad available for tomorrow’s game, though that will not include Shrewsbury forward Andre Gray.

He has spent two months on loan at the New Bucks Head, but Telford have decided against extending that for a further four weeks.

“I spoke to Paul Simpson (the Shrewsbury manager) at length and decided not to take him back for the time-being,” Chambers confirmed.

Defender Aaron Brown will also not be involved tomorrow, having not featured since making his debut in the 2-0 defeat at Stafford Rangers last month.

Brown has been training with League Two side Accrington Stanley and has also been carrying an ankle injury that has restricted his availability. “It’s a situation we’re monitoring,” added Chambers. “Accrington are currently under a transfer embargo but there may be a deal for him there once that is lifted.”
