Francesca McFall, known to family and friends as Frankie, was a popular 18-year-old student who was looking forward to this month’s Valentine’s ball.

Just hours after telling friends on Facebook that she had a date for the ball, a murder inquiry had been launched.

Today friends were already leaving messages on her page in tribute to her.

One friend, Rob Shone, said simply “love you”. Another, Chloe Millington, said: “I miss you I want you back!!”

At 8.51pm yesterday Frankie told her friends on Facebook how she was “buzzing” in anticipation of the Valentine’s ball.

At 10.21pm she put some new photos on her profile page of her enjoying a friend’s “beautiful” birthday party. The photos showed the attractive teenager laughing with her friends as they ate birthday cake.
