The organiser of a fundraising event held to support the victims of the Shrewsbury blast say three friends caught up in the explosion had been “touched” by the effort put into the live music night.
Paul Bailey, from the Yorkshire House pub, co-organised the event with Mike Philbin from the Severn Cellars and Warehouse where the event was held on Saturday.
Mr Bailey said he was “really pleased” with the £7,000 that had so far been raised.
Money has continued to come in ahead of a band night at the Yorkshire House tonight.
He said: “We will also hold a raffle and we have a couple of items to be auctioned at our band night at the Yorkshire House.”
The band night will be held this evening at the pub in St Mary’s Place.
Mr Bailey added: “We are hoping to know the final figure after the band night, but it should be about £7,000.
“I’m really pleased with the figure. We are looking to have a presentation party later in the week.”
He said the night at the Severn Cellars and Warehouse had been a great success.
Scott Godbold, Sam Devine-Turner and Annie Davies, who were injured in the explosion on January 3, attended the fundraiser.
Mr Bailey said: “The night was absolutely superb. Everyone had a really good time.
“It was good to see people enjoying themselves and it was a bit emotional to see Scott, Sam and Annie. They were really touched by the event.”
The night saw live music from a variety of county bands as well as a sponsored body wax by one of Scott’s friends. Money was also raised through tickets sales and a raffle.
Yesterday Sainsbury’s in Meole Brace announced they had raised £1,000 from holding a bucket collection on the tills and at the store entrance. Staff at the supermarket decided to hold the collection because Scott worked there for a number of years.
