Efforts all in vain

It should have been a busy race day – but this was the empty grandstand at Ludlow Racecourse after the efforts of officials to get the jumps card on failed.

- This afternoon’s meeting at Folkestone was abandoned due to frost after a morning inspection. Clerk of the course Andrew Waitt said: “We weren’t forecast a frost last night but it got down to minus 3.5C.”
