Crash man is cut free

A man had to be cut free from his vehicle by firefighters today after a crash on the A5 near Oswestry.

Motorists faced rush-hour disruption after the crash involving a van and a lorry at 6.45am at West Felton.

The van driver was injured and was taken to hospital after he was cut free from his vehicle.

Ambulance spokeswoman Claire Thomas said: “A 26-year-old man was trapped in his van which had suffered front end damage.”

She added: “Fire crews had to open the door and the patient was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with abdominal pain and lacerations to his knees.”
