We need numbers says Bucks chairman Carter

Saturday 30th January 2010, 12:36PM GMT.

Lee CarterAFC Telford chairman Lee Carter has called on the fans to stick by the club despite the recent troubles.

Today’s clash is followed by another home game against Vauxhall Motors and Carter is stressing the importance of retaining healthy crowd numbers.

“Every pair of feet that doesn’t come through the turnstiles has a bigger impact on the club’s future than perhaps people realise,” he said.

“I know what my reaction would have been pre-2004 if a similar call for support had been made after such dreadful performances – but the club needs every bit of support it can muster now.

“It has been a tough month on and off the field. Financially we were okay in the end and had contingencies in place with the Trust.

“But it is nice to be playing games at home again.”

l Loan defender Adam Dugdale has set his sights on a permanent deal to stay beyond his initial month.

The 22-year-old centre-back was in line to make his Telford home debut in today’s Blue Square North clash with Eastwood Town.

Liverpudlian Dugdale, captured from Barrow, said: “Hopefully I’ll do well here, and it’s with a view to a permanent move. The fanbase and the size of the club were the main reasons I wanted to come here.

“The club is too big to be in this league really, and I’d love to help them progress.”

Tough month not helped by the farce of Saturday’s ridiculous cancellation – if Market Drayton can play with no covers available how can’t we? Communication was poor – loads of fans turned up approaching 3pm and not even an official there to tell them game off. still showing as ON on Ceefax at 2:30pm. things are getting Mickey Mouse….

5 years hard work going down the pan in space of few months here, a club on the up now in decline and we get the picture that all is well and happy for mid table placing, if this is case 100s wont come again, youth are getting bored, had friends give up man utd to watch telford this year, that lasted until xmas, they went back, kids got fed up.

Couldn’t he have a word with his mates at Telford & Wrekin Council? I’m sure they’d be only too willing to help out…they seem to give the club anything they want.
