    Unexpected??? Did these people not see it fall out of the sky??? Surely these idiots did, they just failed to adapt their driving. I mean come on people, you’ve had enough practice now with the last bout we had!!! Sort it out, or get off the road, as you are clearly not fit to drive!

    @merc: I agree – fire the lot of them. Get some people in who give us snowstorms with advance warning, proper summers, and rain only on the weekday mornings (except bank holidays).

    I like the fact that a Couple sho run a weather forcasting company in New Zealand from a dissused factory with very few resources and staff can give forcasting in the UK that miles more accurate at 5,000 th of the cost of the Met, Sack the lot of them they are not good value :(

    I read the Star on Friday and on the front page it said,”Snow unexpectedly fell in Shrewsbury today despite weather reports predicting sunny intervals.”

    Actually I had been following the Met Office forecasts this week and it said quite clearly, exactly what we got, “sunny intervals and possibility of Wintry showers.”

    let me have my say

    I heard that the salt depot at park hall in oswestry is/was out of salt last night, and had to get supplies from wem, and as the road from oswestry to wem was bad, the first gritter back had used all its load to grit the road from wem, so when it got to oswestry, it then had to go back to refill. Great planning, can not say we did not expect it!!!!!!!

    Would it help if drivers kitted out their cars for winter driving? Decent tyres, a shovel, snow chains… and tried using a bit of commonsense.
