Ex-court is up for sale

Friday 29th January 2010, 10:53AM GMT.

shifnal-magistrates-court-175For sale signs are set to go up on Shifnal’s crumbling former magistrates court next week with the 166-year-old building expected to fetch about £175,000.

The latest move comes after Shifnal Town Council threw in the towel earlier this month and called an end to its campaign to save it.

A controversial bid to demolish the building to make way for four homes was deferred three times.

The building is being sold with permission for five flats and office space by Andrew Dixon Estate Agents.

If we had the money we really would buy it, keep the exterior of the building and make the interior habitable. Why oh why do we have to put up with modern boxes that aren’t even soundproofed?
