i would just like to say that whilst i do agree with the idea that it seems a little like a tv series disected and put into a feature length film reel, i have to say that i really think that Ray Winstone played his role very well.
i felt as though the film may be riding on Mel Gibson to bring in success although actually he played his role in a fairly “turn up, act, get paid” kind of way, and did not grab me or translate the extremely emotional state in which a person in his position would be in and infact showing and i think that this is the reason i felt Ray Winstone stood out alot more.
i concluded in much the same way in the end though. i would have given 3 and a half stars, there was not enough given to the audience’ experience to warrent 4stars, but i feel that enough effort had been made for slightly mor than 3 stars.
worth a watch on a monday night in bridgnorth majestic priced £3.50 (mon and weds) but not worth travelling to a more mainstream cinema and paying up to £7.20.
