Rescue test for airbase

Wednesday 27th January 2010, 11:04AM GMT.

The readiness of a north Shropshire airbase was due to be tested today as dozens of military personnel prepared to “rescue” their colleagues from a simulated air crash.

RAF Shawbury personnel were due on land at Harmer Hill to test how they would respond to an air disaster.

The training exercise, designed to ensure the airbase’s readiness, was also due to be attended by members of the emergency services looking to brush up on their life-saving and rescue skills.
