Evans so keen for Bucks return

Stourbridge Football "The Glassboys" player Sean EvansWinger Sean Evans believes his surprise loan move away from AFC Telford United should be seen as a positive step – for player and club.

The 22-year-old is returning to Stourbridge for a month, the same club from whom he joined Telford just eight weeks ago.

He has so far failed to establish himself at the New Bucks Head, and the former Shrewsbury youngster hopes a temporary return to the Glassboys can see him regain form and confidence.

“I knew Telford weren’t in an ideal position when I first signed for the club and I wanted to be the one that turned it around,” said Evans, who is in line for his second Stourbridge debut away at Cambridge City tonight.

“For some reason, it hasn’t quite happened so far, but I definitely see this loan as a positive thing rather than a negative.

“Rob and Larry (managers Smith and Chambers) are giving me the chance to go out and play some football rather than killing me by leaving me on the sidelines.

“I’m hoping it works out and I can come back and be the player I was eight weeks ago.

“I know I’m good enough but for some reason I’ve not been fitting into Telford’s style of play. I need to adapt my style and hopefully Telford can adapt slightly to fit me in as well.”

Evans, who as a teenager moved to Manchester United for a five-figure fee, is at a loss to explain Telford’s recent struggles.

But he is certain there is enough talent within the squad to turn it around.

“For anyone who thinks we’re not good enough, they should come and see us in training,” added the Ludlow-based wide man.

“We’re phenomenal then, but we’ve not been able to take it out onto the pitch.

“We’re still hoping to get in the play-offs.”
