Blast victims’ progress ‘amazing’

The father of one of four young friends who were seriously injured in the Shrewsbury blast said all the families were “amazed” at how well they were recovering after the ordeal.
Paul Turner, whose daughter Sam Devine-Turner, 19, suffered burns in the blast and was placed in an induced coma at Selly Oak Hospital, said he was astounded at the fantastic treatment she had received from medics.
He said that all the families were delighted at how well Sam, her flatmates Scott Godbold, 23 and Sarah Pearse, 19, and their friend Annie Davies, 19, were progressing.
Mr Turner, 52, of Moston Road, said: “Selly Oak has been amazing and none of us parents would have believed after seeing them for the first time with their burns how well they are doing now.
“With Sam you can hardly see anything and she is just a bit red, apart from some of the severe burns which she has to have dressed.”
Sam and Scott were both discharged from Selly Oak last weekend while Sarah and Annie are still being treated there.
Mr Turner said the friends were hoping to attend a fundraising event at the Severn Warehouse and Cellars in Howard Street on January 30.
