Probe after fire attack

Friday 22nd January 2010, 11:30AM GMT.

Six people escaped unhurt after arsonists pushed lit material through the letterbox of a house in Telford.

Police said the fire, at an end-terrace in Bishopdale, Brookside, started at around 10.20pm yesterday.

The door and porch caught fire but the six people inside were alerted by a smoke detector.

They managed to douse the flames before fire crews arrived and no-one was hurt.

Telford police spokesman Chris Ammonds said: “We are investigating, along with colleagues in the fire service’s fire investigation department, and want to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious.”
