Street dancers and singers stepped into the limelight as auditions for Telford’s Talent 2010 continued at Lawley Community Centre.
The contest, which culminates in a live show at The Place in Oakengates later this year, has been organised by young people from across the town.
Sunday’s event was the second chance for potential stars to impress the judges, with a total of ten auditions throughout the area over the next few months. Two of the day’s highlights were provided by dance acts, with both Midas and High definition sailing through to the boot camp stage.
A number of singers and musicians also came away with a yes vote from the judging panel, including Chloe Ruston, Karla Cowell and Gabi Davies.
Julia Sockett, who is co-ordinating the project with a group of 20 local youngsters, said: “This is our second round of auditions for Telford Talent 2010 and we have seen a number of acts of all different varieties.
“We have seen dancers, guitar players, singers, actors and musical drama. It has been great.”
The event was first held last year when it was called Telford’s Got Talent, but the name was changed after worries over a clash with ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.
The format remains the same with contestants trying to win their way to the final in April, when the winner will walk away with £500.
Budding stars will have another chance to perform on Saturday, when auditions are held at Coalbrookdale Community Centre.
The first round is open to anyone of any age who lives in the Telford & Wrekin area, with auditions run until February 27, before the second round on March 6 and 7.
