Pub refurbishment to create 25 positions

Tuesday 19th January 2010, 10:57AM GMT.

Twenty five jobs are set to be created at a Shropshire village pub which is undergoing a major £1 million refurbishment.

A post office based at the Horseshoes Inn at Dorrington, near Shrewsbury, has already reopened having been switched from the rear of the premises to the front, which looks on to the main road.

Village Green Inns want to make it the community hub of the area and have invested a huge sum of money in a radical renovation of the premises.

The kitchens will be doubled in size and fitted with the latest, modern equipment, while the dining area will be expanded significantly.

The pub will also include five bedrooms with en-suites to offer the best in bed and breakfast accommodation.

Freddie Collier, managing director of the firm, said the revamped site was due to fully reopen for Easter. He added the project will create up to 25 full and part time jobs for the area, and bosses are actively seeking chefs and kitchen staff, as well as bar and housekeeping staff.

Mr Collier said: “We bought the pub in August 2008. We went through all the necessary planning and all that and we closed in October last year to begin the redevelopment.

“The new post office, which is within the pub, opened the week before last and we’re due to open and start trading in time for Easter.

He added: “Our vision is to have village pubs which are really good traditional locals where the focus is on a very high standard of service and everything is traditional and local.”
