Concern for rare falcon

Monday 18th January 2010, 10:11AM GMT.

Fears have been raised for a rare falcon stolen in north Shropshire, which could die within days if not fed properly, police revealed today.

The bird, a peregrine crossed with a saker falcon, was stolen from its pen in the garden of a house in Warrant Road, Stoke Heath, near Market Drayton, between 4pm on Thursday and 9.30am Friday.

Constable Lyn Downes said: “The bird is almost 12 months old and a female.”

She added: “The owner is particularly concerned as this bird is difficult to keep as she has problems maintaining her body weight. If she is not fed properly she could die within days.”
