Bulls are quids-in with early decision
Monday 18th January 2010, 8:38AM GMT.
Hereford United’s early postponement of their League Two match against Morecambe on Friday has saved the Edgar Street club in the region of £4,000.
Chairman Graham Turner said: “Morecambe were due to travel on Friday afternoon and if the match had been subsequently postponed we would have had to pay their travelling expenses and their overnight accommodation.
“We also delayed the programme being printed so all in all the referee’s early decision probably saved us £4-5,000.
“Our last home league game was on December 5, normally that would mean a serious cash flow problem for most clubs but fortunately we have been a bit prudent in our spending so it isn’t a disaster – but we want to be playing.
“Our main concern now is to make sure we play against Crewe Alexandra tomorrow.”
Turner has also confirmed that he has had further discussions with Herefordshire Council and the developers over the redevelopment of the Blackfriars at Edgar Street.
“The applications have gone in for grants and I would be disappointed if we weren’t looking to apply for detail planning consent within the next two weeks.
“It has dragged on but the prospect of it going ahead fairly quickly now looks good.”
